Pendampingan Pemeliharaan dan Perbaikan Aset Laboratorium Komputer Sebagai Upaya Peningkatan Kualitas Layanan Akademik di Universitas Muhammadiyah Bangka Belitung

Abstract

Computer laboratories are vital facilities for supporting the learning and practical work processes at higher education institutions. However, the high intensity of computer usage, combined with a shortage of technical staff for asset maintenance, often leads to operational disruptions such as hardware failures, system issues, and equipment underperformance that directly impact the smooth conduct of academic activities relying on these labs. This community service initiative aims to assist with the maintenance and repair of computer laboratory assets at Universitas Muhammadiyah Bangka Belitung, thereby enhancing the quality of academic services for the lecturers and students who use the facilities. The project was carried out through the "KKN Sinema" program, a Community Service (KKN) scheme implemented directly at the students' workplaces. The implementation methodology involved identifying and assessing equipment conditions, performing repairs based on the specific faults detected, and providing guidance to laboratory managers on equipment usage and basic maintenance. The results demonstrate that the interventions successfully restored the functionality of previously damaged computer units, enabling laboratory-based practical sessions and classes to resume optimally. This initiative is expected to serve as a reference for the sustainable management of information technology assets on campus while fostering greater awareness among laboratory managers regarding the importance of preventive maintenance to minimize the risk of future equipment failures.
