Sambiroto (Andrographis paniculata) dan Bioaktivitasnya

Abstract


Andrographis paniculata (AP) merupakan spesies dalam famili Acanthaceae yang telah lama digunakan sebagai bahan jamu oleh masyarakat lokal Indonesia. Untuk mengetahuai bioaktivitas AP dilakukan studi literatur atau review artikel ilmiah baik yang terbit secara on-line maupun offline, sehingga diperoleh informasi yang konfrehensip untuk mendukung pemanfaatannya sebagai obat. AP mudah ditemukan di pekarangan sebagai tanaman hias maupun sebagai bahan obat. Sebagai obat tradisional AP digunakan sebagai obat demam, influensa, diabetes mellitus, diuretika, analgesik. Andrographolide merupakan senyawa marker yang digunakan sebagai sediaan atau ramuan yang mengandung AP. Hasil bioessay menunjukkan bahwa Ap memiliki aktivitas sebagai anti mikroba, anti plasmodium, anti kanker, anti diabetes mellitus, anti inflamasi dan hepatoprotektor. Pemanfaatan AP sebagai anti mikroba khususnya Plasmodium perlu dikaji lebih lanjut sehingga dapat digunakan sebagai alternatif obat malaria.
