PENGARUH PENGGUNAAN MEDIA SOSIAL TERHADAP AKHLAK DAN PRESTASI BELAJAR SISWA KELAS VII SMP AMALIA JALAN RAYA MENTENG MEDAN

Abstract

This study focuses on efforts to find out in more detail about the influence of social media on students' moral attitudes and student achievement. This qualitative research was conducted on seventh grade students of SMP Amalia Menteng-Medan. The instruments used for data collection consisted of interviews and document analysis. Interviews were conducted with principal, teachers and students. Meanwhile, documents are obtained from schools that are considered relevant, such as reports on student learning outcomes and test results. The results showed that social media had a negative effect on the morals of seventh grade students of SMP Amalia Menteng, because students were not wise to various information that were easily accessible and available on social media, including lifestyle, culture and negative information that could damage their thinking. The use of social media also has a negative impact on student achievement, because the use of social media can largely ignore student learning, especially in doing the tasks given by the teacher when distance learning is being used these days. Lack of teacher supervision or lack of parental attention is one of the main causes of declining student achievement.
