Language Literacy: Journal of Linguistics, Literature and Language Teaching is an international, blind peer-reviewed scholarly journal published by the Faculty of Literature, Universitas Islam Sumatera Utara (UISU), Medan, Indonesia. Since its establishment, the journal has served as a platform for disseminating high-quality research in the fields of linguistics, literature, translation, and language teaching.
The journal published its inaugural issue in December 2017 and was initially issued biannually, with publication schedules in June and December. On 27 June 2018, Language Literacy was indexed in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), marking an important milestone in its international visibility and commitment to open-access scholarly publishing.
In recognition of its academic quality and editorial standards, the journal received national accreditation at Grade 4 (SINTA 4) from the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia through Decree No. 28/E/KPT/2019, issued on 26 September 2019. This accreditation was valid from Volume 2, Number 1 (2018) through Volume 6, Number 1 (2022).
Following a reaccreditation process in 2020, the journal achieved an upgraded accreditation status of Grade 3 (SINTA 3) under Decree No. 148/M/KPT/2020, issued on 3 August 2020. This accreditation was effective from Volume 3, Number 2 (2019) to Volume 7, Number 2 (2023), reflecting the journal’s continuous efforts to enhance its scholarly impact, editorial quality, and international reach.
Most recently, Language Literacy successfully maintained its Grade 3 (SINTA 3) accreditation through Decree No. 72/E/KPT/2024, issued on 1 April 2024 by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia. This accreditation is valid from Volume 6, Number 2 (2022) through Volume 11, Number 1 (2027).
In response to the substantial increase in manuscript submissions received over the past two years, particularly since Volume 9, Number 2 (December 2025), and to accommodate the growing demand from authors for additional publication opportunities, the journal has decided to increase its publication frequency. Beginning in 2027, Language Literacy will be published three times annually, with issues appearing in April, August, and December. Consequently, Volume 11, Number 1 (2027) will be published in April 2027, marking the commencement of the journal’s new triannual publication schedule.
This development reflects the journal’s ongoing commitment to providing a wider platform for scholarly communication, reducing publication waiting times, and supporting the dissemination of high-quality research to the global academic community.
