PENINGKATAN MINAT BELAJAR DAN KEAKTIFAN SISWA KELAS VIII-1 SMP NEGERI 1 SEI BINGAI MELALUI PENERAPAN MEDIA GOOGLE CLASSROOM DAN WHATSAPP SELAMA COVID-19 TAHUN PELAJARAN 2020-2021

This research is a type of Class Action Research (PTK) or often referred to as Classroom Action Research. This research aims to increase students' interest in learning and activity through the implementation of Google Classroom and WhatsApp in Social Science learning Year 2020-2021. This research was conducted in August to September 2020 and completed the preparation in October 2020. The subjects in this study were grade VIII-1 students of SMP Negeri 1 Sei Bingai Year 2020-2021 which consisted of 32 students consisting of 8 male students and 24 female students. This study adopted Kurt Lewin's circle research model, where the research design consists of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. Data collection techniques in this study using non-test techniques, namely observation and documentation. The test instrument used in the form of observation sheet containing indicators of learning interest assessment and student learning activity. The data is descriptively quantitative and presented in the form of tables and drawings/charts. The results of data analysis during the implementation of the study, starting from the initial cycle to cycle II showed an improvement in the assessment of learning interest and activeness of learning ips grade VIII-1 students. In the initial cycle only 11 students (35%) students who fall into the category of interested in learning IPS and as many as 10 students (35%) students who fall into the active category of learning activities. Then in cycle I as many as 30 students (94%) and on the assessment of learning interests as many as 28 students (88%) in the category of interest and in cycle II, students who received the active category on the assessment of learning activity in cycle II as many as 31 students (97%). While in the assessment of learning interest, in this cycle II grade VIII-1 students who got the category of interest as many as 30 students (94%). These results conclude that ips learning in grade VIII-1 by implementing Google Classroom and WhatsApp has successfully increased students' learning interest and learning activity.
