Abstract


The biography of Umar Bin Khattab is a book written by Ali Muhammad Ash-Shallabi, and one of the discussions is about the values of Islamic religious education. The book tells the story of Umar Bin Khattab's life, which is full of Islamic educational values starting from faith, sharia and morals. The aim of this research is to identify and analyze the values of Islamic education contained in the Biography of Umar bin Khattab by Ali Muhammad Ash-Shallabi. This type of research is library research (Library Research) regarding the book Biography of Umar bin Khattab written by Ali Muhammad Ash-Shallabi. The research results describe Umar bin Khattab as the first caliph, leader and pious statesman; was born in 583 and converted to Islam with full sincerity. He tried to strengthen Islam with all his efforts and became caliph for ten years of reign (13H/23H or 634M/644M). In his leadership he upheld educational and religious values which were reflected in his friends during his leadership. The value of Aqidah education contained in the story of Umar bin Khattab is about human nature. The educational value of worship which concerns the story of Umar bin Khattab regarding human obligations. The obligation of a Muslim is to carry out Allah's commands such as prayer, fasting, zakat and hajj. The value of moral education in the story of Umar bin Khattab is related to human actions and behavior; namely morals towards Allah, morals towards creatures and morals towards nature. The relevance of Umar bin Khattab's idea of Islamic education to current Islamic education is the establishment of educational institutions in the form of assemblies and mosques, and this is relevant to Law no. 23 of 2003 concerning the National Education System article 1 paragraph 12. Apart from that, it is related to providing salary allowances to teachers, of course this is relevant to the policies contained in Law No. 14 of 2005 concerning Teachers and Lecturers.
