HUBUNGAN ANTARA KOMUNIKASI INTERPERSONAL DENGAN MOTIVASI BERPRESTASI PADA SISWA YPI DELITUA KECAMATAN DELITUA KABUPATEN DELI SERDANG SUMATERA UTARA

Abstract

This study aims to determine interpersonal communication skills, achievement motivation and the relationship between interpersonal communication and achievement motivation in students of Madrasah Tsanawiyah - Education Foundation Delitua-Deli Serdang District, North Sumatra. Data were obtained from 30 students as a sample of all Madrasah students through random sampling technique. This study uses quantitative methods with descriptive statistical analysis. While the instrument in data collection used a questionnaire with 25 items for each variable. Based on the analysis and data processing techniques, the results showed that the students' interpersonal communication skills got an average score of 73.03 and this was included in a good rating. Meanwhile, with regard to achievement motivation, the results show an average of 74.87 which is included in the good category as well. As for the relationship between interpersonal communication and achievement motivation, the results are positive and significant; the better interpersonal communication between students and teachers, the more students' achievement motivation increases and vice versa, the less good interpersonal communication, the lower students' motivation for achievement. Interpersonal communication has an effect of 67.90% on achievement motivation. So based on the calculation of the regression equation, that if interpersonal communication has increased by 1 unit, the student's achievement motivation will increase by 0.86. While the coefficient value is positive, it means that there is a positive relationship between interpersonal communication skills and achievement motivation; the better the implementation of interpersonal communication, the higher the achievement motivation of students.
