Abstract


This research aims to reveal the pattern of personality and moral development of children in orphanages and to determine the factors inhibiting and supporting these efforts. This qualitative research uses interviews, observations and documents for data collection. All data was analyzed by grouping, categorization, data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. Orphanage administrators act as parents who try to develop their morals through several approaches such as personal advice, motivation, understanding the teachings of the Koran, skills in reading the Koran, carrying out congregational prayers, reading the Koran every day after completing prayers, telling stories to children of truth, discipline, respect for time, so that foster children have commendable or good morals. Factors that support and hinder the moral development of foster children at the Putera Muhammadiyah Orphanage can be seen in the vision and mission of the Orphanage, the patience and sincerity of the Management in caring for them, providing an example and the existence of regulations that have been established by the Orphanage Management. Meanwhile, the obstacles are the different backgrounds of foster children, the condition of foster children who are still unstable, some people who are still unable to adapt to a disciplined environment, and there are still children who break the rules.
