KINERJA MESIN DAN EMISI GAS BUANG MESIN BENSIN MENGGUNAKAN BAHAN BAKAR CAMPURAN PERTALITE-BIOETANOL TANDAN KOSONG KELAPA SAWIT
Abstract
Bahan bakar bioetanol merupakan bahan bakar terbarukan yang ramah terhadap lingkungan. Tandan kosong kelapa sawit merupakan limbah yang digunakan sebagai bahan baku non-pangan untuk memproduksi bioetanol. Dalam penelitian ini, campuran bioetanol-pertalite dengan persentasi campuran 10% (E10), 15% (E15) dan 20% (E20) digunakan pada mesin bensin (SI) untuk menyelidiki kinerja mesin dan emisi gas buang. Kinerja mesin diamati dengan parameter konsumsi bahan bakar spesifik (BSFC) dan efisiensi termal (BTE). Selain itu, CO, HC dan CO2 diukur sebagai parameter emisi gas buang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terjadinya penurunan konsumsi bahan bakar spesifik (171,92 g / kWh) di campuran bahan bakar dengan persentase 20% bioetanol (E20) pada kecepatan mesin 7000 rpm. Efisiensi termal (BTE) mencapai maksimum sebesar 51,33%. Selain itu campuran bioetanol-pertalite dapat juga menurunkan emisi gas buang karbon monoksida (CO) dan hidrokarbon (HC) dibandingkan dengan bahan bakar pertalite, walaupun karbon dioksida (CO2)
meningkat.
