Open Access Policy

MUKADIMAH: Jurnal Pendidikan, Sejarah, dan Ilmu-ilmu Sosial is committed to making scholarly research freely accessible to readers worldwide. Open access supports the exchange of knowledge, education, and public engagement with research in education, history, and the social sciences.

1. Immediate and Free Access

All articles published in MUKADIMAH are freely available online immediately upon publication. Readers are not required to pay subscription fees, purchase individual articles, or register to access their full texts. There is no access embargo.

Readers may read, download, print, search, and link to published articles. Redistribution, adaptation, and other forms of reuse are permitted under the license applicable to the material.

2. Copyright and Licensing

Authors retain copyright to their work. Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

This license permits copying, redistribution, and adaptation, including commercial reuse, provided that users give appropriate credit, link to the license, and identify modifications. Attribution must not imply endorsement by the authors or the journal.

Users must not impose legal or technological restrictions that prevent others from exercising the rights granted by the license.

The applicable license is identified on each article. Further details are provided in the journal’s Copyright Statement and licensing information.

3. Attribution and Responsible Reuse

Users should acknowledge the authors and MUKADIMAH as the original publication source and provide the article’s bibliographic citation and DOI or original URL.

Reused or adapted material must be clearly distinguished from the original where changes have been made. Users remain responsible for ensuring that their reuse complies with the applicable license and other relevant rights.

Third-party material excluded from the article’s license will be identified through an appropriate credit line. Additional permission may be required for reuse of such material. Public-domain material and uses permitted by applicable exceptions or limitations are unaffected by this policy.

4. Author Self-Archiving

Authors may deposit and share the preprint, accepted manuscript, and published Version of Record in institutional or subject repositories without an embargo.

Deposited copies should identify the manuscript version. Once the article is published, authors should include its full citation and DOI link. Published copies should retain their copyright, attribution, and licensing information.

Further provisions are available in the journal’s Electronic Archiving and Self-Archiving Policy.

5. Publication Charges and Transparency

Free access for readers is distinct from any charges associated with manuscript submission or publication.

Any applicable author charges, payment conditions, or waiver arrangements will be disclosed separately on the journal’s website. Authors should consult the journal’s current fee information before submission.

Payment, where applicable, does not guarantee acceptance or influence peer review and editorial decisions.

6. Long-Term Preservation

MUKADIMAH supports continued access through digital preservation and local backups. The journal participates in the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), which uses LOCKSS technology for distributed preservation.

Recorded preservation coverage can be consulted through the ISSN Portal and Keepers Registry. Coverage depends on successfully preserved deposits.

Additional information about supplementary archiving, local backups, and access arrangements is provided in the journal’s Electronic Archiving and Self-Archiving Policy.

7. Funder and Institutional Requirements

Immediate open access, author copyright retention, and CC BY 4.0 licensing can support authors in meeting open-access requirements.

Authors remain responsible for checking the specific conditions of their institutions and funders, including repository deposit, funding acknowledgment, and any additional reporting obligations. Publication in the journal does not automatically establish compliance with every funder’s requirements.

8. Commitment to Open Scholarship

MUKADIMAH promotes access to scholarly knowledge beyond institutional, economic, and geographical barriers. Its open-access policy supports the reading, teaching, discussion, and responsible reuse of published research.

This policy will be reviewed periodically to maintain consistency with the journal’s copyright, licensing, preservation, and editorial policies.
